FAQ

  • If you have noticed tasks around the home or in the community are becoming gradually more and more challenging for you or your loved one, you may want to consider scheduling an appointment with our occupational therapist.

    Some questions to ask yourself:

    • Do I feel safe when showering and getting ready for the day

    • Am I ever worried about falling/tripping/slipping over?

    • Do I want to know more about my medical conditions and how to prepare for the future?

    • Is my memory starting to affect my daily life and decision-making skills?

    • Would I benefit from a grab rail in the toilet?

    • Do I need any equipment or aids to help manage daily tasks at home or in the community (e.g. height adjustable chair, pressure cushion, mobility scooter, etc.)?

    • Do my carers need more support and education?

    • Are there any leisure activities I could attend in the community?

An occupational therapist will work with you to develop goals, assess your ability to complete daily activities that are important and meaningful to you and provide you with recommendations that may help to maintain your independence and safety at home or in the community.

  • The number of visits our clients receive is dependent on their care needs, individual goals and funding. Some people may only require an initial home visit and follow up appointment before being discharged from the service (e.g. following the installation of a grab rail); whereas, others may request regular visits over a number of weeks to help them achieve a specific goal (e.g. returning to playing lawn bowls or completing the grocery shopping).

Your occupational therapist will develop a personalised care plan with you and your family/carers which may give you an idea on how frequently you will need to be visited as well as discuss your funding options.
